Description
As part of our 599 Hybrid development, we replaced and emulated the rear ECU with a MoTeC ECU, as well as our own circuit board and microprocessor to run a ton of tasks in the rear of the car. These range from suspension control to potential DRS or four wheel steering in the future.
It was at that time that our friend Robin from Out Of The Gate suggested that a similar replacement module could be of value to the Ferrari community (along with other vehicles that use the Magneti Marelli TCM) to make the 6-speed swap process easier, while adding some features at the same time.
The benefits of this TCU replacement are:
- No need to reflash your OEM ECUs or Body Control Module – the car continues to run and think that it has an F1 Gearbox. Save thousands here alone.
- Brings your gear display back to life! Calculated gears from vehicle speed and RPM, and display those on the instrument cluster
- Option to blank the gear display so that nothing is shown (no flashing lights)
- Use of jumpers to easily configure options specific to your car
- Accept either a 12V or GND signal for the reverse switch input
- Solid state relay switching of the engine starter relay and reverse light relay
- Engine protection logic that will lock out the starter if the engine is running, or if the clutch is not depressed (can be bypassed with a jumper)
Compatible Vehicles:
- At this time the TCU is being tested with the Ferrari 599 GTB. More vehicles will be tested and support will be added in the near future.
